Route 66 - Depeche Mode

   I am putting together a CD collection for a friend of mine of the Top 200 Songs from WDRE/WLIR (New York/Long Island station) of the 80's.  I found the list from a search I did online. 

I know not a top 40 song, but does anyone know the version of "Route 66" by Depeche Mode that they played.  I remember a mix that sounded like the "Beatmasters Mix" but I am not sure if that was the one.  If my memory serves me correctly, they were not playing the album version from "Music From The Masses" but I could be wrong.

Anyone remember?

	TM Studios lists a "Mega-Single Mix" - not sure if that's the version you're looking for.

	the "Mega-Single Mix" was the hit mix of Behind The Wheel/Route 66. This mix is available on the "Just Say Yo" compilation from Sire Records (1988)

	LIR didn't play the behind the wheel/route 66 mega mix, or maybe they did, but they mostly played Route 66 on its own with just a hint of Behind the Wheel instrumentation thrown in to the middle. Route 66 isn't on the original Music for the Masses CD, it was only released as a single, but it might be on the rerelease from a couple of years ago? Anyway, the import CD single of Behind the Wheel/Route 66 has The Beatmasters 12" mix of Route 66 as track 4. That's the mix LIR used to play of Route 66 with just a hint of Behind the Wheel mixed into the middle, but I'm sure it was a radio edit and not the 12" length, which is over 6 minutes long.
