I always heard the "Album Mix" in the 90s/early 2000s in Philly on Star/Alice
1045. I'm guessing the "Butcher" mix was an attempt to get it Alternative airplay, though it's really a pop song. |

Yeah, if anything, maybe Triple A / Adult Alternative might have played it. Joe "The Butcher" Nicolo (mainly known for producing hip-hop) did all the remixes on the 3-track promo, and the "Butcher" Mix sounds the least pop. It's a stripped down mix that removes the synthesizers and focuses heavily on the percussion.

Is there any consensus on whether the airplay mix or album version got the most play on the radio?

At the time the song came out, I was a subscriber to Top
Hits U.S.A. They only serviced the Airplay Mix. |
