I searched but couldn't find a thread on the 1986 hit "Two of Hearts" by Stacey Q.
Trivia: "Two of Hearts" first came out on 7" & 12" on the L.A. indie label On The Spot Records in the first half of 1986. It was quickly picked up by Atlantic, which released old & new mixes on 7" and 12", circa June 1986. The original indie 12" was widely available and was on the Billboard Hot Dance/Disco 12 Inch Singles Sales chart for one week in June 1986, but then it was replaced in the chart by the newly released Atlantic 12". The Atlantic 12" then entered the Hot Dance/Disco Club Play chart in July. It peaked at #4 on the Club Play chart in September, and #1 on the sales chart in October. The 7" began its climb on the Hot 100 in July, and peaked at #4 in September. Also in July, a compilation, Dance Traxx Volume 2, was released on LP & cassette, with a CD following sometime in 1987. The LP featured the 7" mix, while the cassette & CD had a previously unreleased "Original Mix" which was the A-side of the indie 12", but with a slightly different ending. An album, Better Than Heaven, was released on Atlantic in late September on LP & cassette, with a CD following about a month later. The LP contained the 7" mix, while the cassette and CD got a unique long version combining elements of several mixes. Corrections needed in the database: The "LP version" in the database should really be called the "CD album version", because the vinyl LP contains the 45 version. The entry for this song on Hi-NRG Dance Classics Volume 1 compilation CD should include a note that it is mistitled on this CD as the European Mix, when in fact it is the European Dance Mix. The CD with catalog # TVT 6680 should be "O.S.T. Party Monster", not "O.S.T. Party Animal". The version of "Two of Hearts" on this CD is just an early fade of the 45 version. Here are my notes on the different versions and where they are found on releases from 1986: Two of Hearts (3:33) = unique edit? (unconfirmed)
Two of Hearts (European Mix) (no time), actual 7:36
Two of Hearts (Dance Mix) (6:00), actual 6:01
Two of Hearts (Radio Edit) (3:45), actual 3:47
Stacey's Dream (A Capella), actual 2:33
Two of Hearts (Radio Edit) (3:58) = hit 45 version, a remix of the previous Radio Edit
Two of Hearts (Original Mix) (7:50), actual 7:49 = European Mix with slightly different, longer outro (differences start around 7:11)
Two of Hearts (European Dance Mix) (6:00) = unique remix, not the same as Dance Mix or European Mix
Two of Hearts (Instrumental) (4:39)
Two of Hearts (7:13), actual 7:12 = European Mix with shortened break, uses outro from Original Mix but unfaded, ends cold

I can confirm the 3:45 titled "radio edit" on the US 12'' and in my collection. I have it titled as 12" Radio Edit straight from vinyl. It is not to my knowledge on the 45 or the promo 45 in the US. It is not on CD.
The 12'' radio edit can be found here: https://www.discogs.com/Stacey-Q-Two-Of-Hearts/release/11878 0 |

Favorite two expressions to live by on this board: "You can't download vinyl" and "Not everything is available on CD."
