Would someone mind checking this track from this CD in the database:
Bill Anderson - 1963 Still (M) (2:46) Curb 77436 Best Of The database says it's mono, but this Curb title is available as a download, and it's stereo there. I'm wondering if this is a mistake in the database or if they've replaced the track on the digital version. Thanks! |

My copy of the Curb CD was obtained when it was first issued in
1991. Three of the Decca tracks are in MONO: #2 - Still #4 - I Get The Fever #5- My Life (Throw It Away If I Want To) Only ONE Decca track-#3-Mama Sang A Song - is STEREO |

Thanks! Yeah, all three of those have been replaced with stereo mixes on the download version of the album. Edited by Brian W. |

That's very surprising.
Curb has always been a rather low-budget operation for compilations. Hard to believe that they'd take the time to replace the MONO versions. Guess that somebody in their digital catalog division has a clue! The two volumes of Bill's Greatest Hits released on CD by Varese Sarabande are great sources for many of Bill's original Decca & MCA hits in STEREO. So far those two comps have not been issued as downloads. There are three MCA Nashville hit comps of Bill's Decca/MCA singles available as downloads. However many of the tracks are duplicated between them while many of Bill's hits were overlooked. Recently MCA Nashville has digitally released several of Bill's original 1962-1977 Decca & MCA albums. Online samples sound pretty good so they must have found master tapes somewhere since that devastating 2008 Universal vault fire. The Bill Anderson 1956-1966 4-CD Bear Family Boxset issued in 2011 sourced most of the audio from vinyl. |
