The short DJ edit of "Ballroom Blitz" can easily be created from the 45/LP version. You simply edit out 2:12 to 2:54, right before the "yeah, yeah, yeah" lyric.

The oldest disc I have with "Ballroom Blitz" is Capitol's The Best Of Sweet (1992). It's mastered with a tremendous amount of high end, so that opening snare drum practically knocks you off your chair. That's not really a good thing, but you don't have much choice because most CDs with the song are based on the mastering for Best Of. The same analog transfer is used for:
  • Time-Life's Guitar Rock Vol. 16 The Mid-'70s Take Two (1995; digitally exactly 0.6 dB quieter)
  • Starland/Warner Special Products' 2-CD 40 Party Classics (1996)
  • Time-Life's AM Gold Vol. 22 1975 (1996; digitally identical)
  • Priority's I Love Rock And Roll Vol. 3 Hits Of The 70's (1996; digitally exactly 4.049 dB quieter)
  • Cema's Ten Best Series (1997; differently-EQ'd digital clone)
There's a different analog transfer on EMI Australia's 5-CD Pop Complete (1999).

As Aaron noted two years ago, creating the promo 45 edit is very easy:

Using AM Gold Vol. 22 1975 as the source, remove 2:12.1 to 2:54.1, editing on the beat that falls on the first "yeah". I don't have Best Of anymore, but the timings will likely be very close to AM Gold.
There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.
