Just listening now to this. And I have to state even before finishing that the
2023 mixes of the 2-track stereo songs are a revelation! SO nice to not have
them split as they were mixed back in '63. With most, they've essentially put
the bass/drums in the centre with the vocal and kept the guitars left. A joy to
listen to. Ringo's drumming is SO great, and never stood out like this before.

Will keep going thru to hear what they've done with the 4-track recordings.

Glad to hear. The reviews have supported the better stereo on the red set.

Honestly, I am not a fan of the 2023 remixes.

The stuff on the set that's already been remixed and released (2015's '1' reissue, Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road, Let It Be, Revolver) I was already mostly indifferent to,
but I find this latest batch of remixes to be rather atrocious. "She Loves You" is a distorted mess. "Can't Buy Me Love" seems to have the wrong vocals at the start?.
"Nowhere Man" is lifeless. Sure, Ringo's drums are more up front but this is done at the expense of the overall mix's musicality. His drum fills are suddenly right in
your face instead of complimenting the instrumental surroundings as they once did. Every element is now competing for your attention and nothing is coexisting. This is
simply NOT the way to mix music.

I can say no more.

Sorry that you aren’t enjoying the new releases. In regards to “She Loves
You”, I thought the distortion was coming from the original recording? It’s
always been a bit noisy IMO. I haven’t done any headphone listening to Red
‘23 yet so maybe I’m not picking up on it yet

I was hoping they'd use the original version of "Please
Please Me" with the correct lyrics.

Yeah, me too, it would have been nice to have the mono version of PPM mixed
to stereo. There's another little tidbit that slipped by me (since I didn't listen
to it until I'd read about it). "Dear Prudence" is marked 2018 Mix, which is of
course when "The Beatles" (White Album) was remixed, but on the new Blue it
starts cold without the bleed from "Back In The USSR". Nice to hear!

Same for “A Day in the Life”. It is tagged “2017 Mix”, which is when the
anniversary mix of Sgt Pepper dropped, but it is the clean intro version
(thankfully)

Listening to the mixes today, I had several immediate reactions:

1) It feels like these recordings are less distorted than I've EVER heard on any source.

2) Spreading the instruments out may have caused some of the songs to lose a little energy, which surprised me.

3) I'm impressed that the compression on individual instruments and mics can still be heard even while the whole mix doesn't sound like it's fluttering up and down as happens with a broadband compressor on the final mixdown (and the original mono mixes did).

BONUS REACTION: problems with the Beatles' performances on the early recordings are more obvious in stereo. (I know, heresy.)

I wouldn't want to lose the mono mixes, but I expect to reach for these stereo mixes 99% of the time.

Which version of "Please Please Me" did they use on this release? There is the original with Andy White on drums. Then the LP and 45 versions. So which of the three is it?

I've heard a lot about the vinyl releases of these? Are there CD releases and do
they have the 2023 remixes?
