Here are instructions for creating the 45 version from the LP version. I took my LP version from Rock On 1988 (Madacy ROK-2-1988/Cema S21-18694, 1996), which has decent mastering with little compression and a nice EQ.

Keep 0:00.0 through 0:16.4 of LP version.
Edit at downbeat.
Keep 0:32.4 through 3:42.4 of LP version.
Edit at snare and word "know".
Keep 3:58.4 through the end at 4:20.4 of LP version.

This leaves edits at 0:16.4 and 3:26.3 and a total time of 3:48.4.

Lastly, you'll need to speed the whole track up to match the 45. The LP version is 119.8 BPM, and the true 45 version is 121.3 BPM, so you'll need to pitch up by about 1.2%. This will bring the total track time to about 3:45. The vocals end at 3:42 on the 45, with a printed time of 3:41 on the label.

my commercial 45 issued as mca 53254 states the run time on the label as 3:41 but actually runs 3:45 and is an edit of the full length 4:14 version as noted above.....this info s/b added to the db....

My commercial 45 and both sides of my promo copy are the same actual running time together.
The actual running time is (3:42), the listed time is "3:41" on the record label.

MC-24757E-FDS-4 (one side of promo and the commercial 45's matrix number etched on the run out groove)
MC-24757E-FDS-3 (another side)
