Regarding John Cougar's "This Time", can anyone report if the difference between the commercial 45 running 3:57 and the database CD appearances, which all run 4:17, is an edit, early fade, or something else?

Thanks, John. I did a search for this song by "Topic Subject", which would explain why nothing came up.

At any rate, all database CD appearances of "This Time" need an "LP version" comment.

I have a Riva 205 (b/w "Don't Misunderstand Me") with a run time listed at 4:18 and it indeed runs that length. Evidently it's the LP version. On the other thread (linked above), there was mention of two edits to get the 3:57 version.

The matrix number etched in the run-out is:
R-205-2-56151-CP

The label is very similar to this one I found on 45cat here.

Thanks, Aaron. I feel like a rookie reporting to the Yankees' 1928 spring training. If there were a Mt. Rushmore for single versions on CD, a lot of you guys would be chiseled in stone and I would be in the visitors center buying a snow cone.

I'm assuming there are two different pressings of this particular 45.

Ha! We are a friendly bunch. The fact that you just uncovered a second
pressing of "This Time" makes me think you're not as much of a rookie
as you say you are :)

Out of curiosity, did you just recently join after seeing the thread about
how to skirt around the "not accepting new members" message? If so, I
hope it encourages more people to upgrade their status from "guest" to
"member." Even contributing just a few things that nobody else has yet
uncovered is extremely helpful.

Yes, I saw your note about new members. I've been a guest for 7-8 years, and finally decided to ask to join up. The information here is invaluable for those of us who want to collect single versions of songs. I've made many edits to LP versions due to the info on this board, and have saved a lot of time and money avoiding going down rabbit holes. I've learned a ton. I've also intermittently come across some info that perhaps the board could use. I'll have to see whatever else I have lying around that may be of interest.

One edit from about (3:33) to (3:51). Edit cuts out the lower half of the guitar solo near the end.
