I'm going through my letter "P". This hit Billboard at #61 in 1981. The CD 'Get Into The Greed' on Sony AK-66392
says 3:51 but is actually 3:49, silence-to-silence. My single on Portrait 12-02092, says 3:31, but is actually 3:32. I always look up singles on 'Ron's Hot 100', and he shows the Sony CD. Then I look up Rich's '1981 Hot 100 not on CD',and it's not on his list. I know, so what's the :17 second difference? On first listening there is 7 seconds edited out of the instrumental beginning intro. Then at the end, it is faded :10 seconds early. If I have time, I'll post the edits in order to make the CD match the single unless someone beats me to it. -Bill. |

Huh, interesting. Didn’t know there was a 45 edit of this, but that makes
sense, knowing the song. Thanks for the info, Bill. Nothing really to add here. Just wanted to say the self-titled album by The Producers is one of my personal all-time favorites. In my opinion, the even better single “What’s He Got” from the same album undeservedly bubbled under the Hot 100. Of course, “She Sheila” (which I don’t believe charted on the pop charts), from their 2nd LP, “You Make The Heat”, is probably their best song and can be found on Volume 3 of the “Heard It On The Radio” cd series. This is what I came up with. Assuming there is no silence at the beginning, edit the 7.23 seconds starting
at 01.9 and extending to 9.135. The ending fade starts at 3:22 and ends at 3:32. That's it as far as I can tell. Normally, I don't do edits of CD extractions. I would rather just put the vinyl 45 RPM on my hard drive, clean it up, a little EQ, and be satisfied. That way it's completely original. I should point out that my single is not a white label promo. It appears it's a stock copy that's been rubber stamped, 'Demonstration Not For Sale' on the label. -Bill. |

Thanks for the info, Bill.
And Jon O., I am curious what is cut out of "She Sheila" for the 45 edit (apparently runs 3:52). |
