On iTunes I came across the song on an album also titled Stronger Than Before but discovered after purchasing it that it is a re-recording.

That's correct, Doug. You probably wouldn't want to use the CD version anyhow, since it's mono.

Currently available on iTunes (at least on iTunes Canada)
is a stand-alone single of "Stronger Than Before" with a
copyright line of (c)1981 Boardwalk Records. This is the
same version that I mentioned in my post above (from more
than fifteen years ago!), except that it is in stereo
while the track I purchased in 2007 was mono. I stated in
my post above that this was a re-recording, but it is
most likely the LP version, with which I am not familiar.
Whatever it is, the stand-alone single currently on
iTunes is not the single version.

Cristian, the amazon page of the Expanded Edition you linked to also shows
available in mp3 format. But when I clicked on that, it's just the regular album,
which I assume is true for all digital platforms. So if someone wants the single
mix in stereo, the only place is on this expanded CD.
