Was listening to the radio yesterday, when they played P!nk's 2001-02 hit, "Get the Party Started", which happens to be one of the few songs from this decade that I actually LIKE. And for that reason, a lyric change jumped out at me in this version that I'd never heard before: There's a line in the middle of the song that goes, "I'll be burnin' rubber, you'll be kissin' my @$$." However, what I heard yesterday was apparently a censored version w/ the final word in that line changed to "end". Yet according to the 10th edition of Pat's book, there is no "censored" version of this song on any U.S. CD, and Whitburn's "Top Pop Singles" book indicates that the single was only available commercially on 12" vinyl. (And I DO remember there being no commercial CD single or maxi-single here in the U.S. at the time; otherwise, I would've bought it!)

So, just out of curiosity, does anyone know where this altered version of "Get the Party Started" comes from??? I know that one or more promo CD singles must exist for the song, and I wouldn't mind tracking it/them down, if anyone here could provide details. Thanks in advance... :-)

Yes, you are referring to the "Radio Mix" that appears on two different promo singles that I own.

Arista ARPCD 3986
1. Radio Mix (3:12)
2. Instrumental (3:14)
3. Suggested Call-Out Hook (:10)

Arista ARPCD 5065
1. Sweet Dreams Remix feat. Redman (4:04)
2. Remix feat. Lady May (3:50)
3. Ernie's All Night Party Anthem (3:23)
4. P!nk Noise Disco Mix (3:44)
5. Radio Mix (3:13) (same as on promo 3986)

(above times are all the listed times)

The "Sweet Dreams Remix" replays the synthesizer hook from the Eurythmics hit. (It's not a sample from the actual song.)

there was a US "45" that came out somewhat belatedly (around the time that Family Portait was popular). Get The Party Started b/w Just Like A Pill was issued on Arista 50979.
