Our commercial copy of "Diane" by The Bachelors (London 9639) states a time of (2:05), but actually runs (2:29).

A thread on the Hoffman board inspired me to dig out my U.S. 45, since the suggestion was made that the mono and stereo versions differ. It took several listens, but I eventually was able to detect that my 45 indeed differs from the stereo version on the second volume of the Eric Hard To Find series.

If you listen to the word "Roam" at about (2:08), which is the point at which the tempo slows down before the final line, it is clearly evident that the two versions differ in how they slow down at that point. The 45 version is on the fifth volume of the Rhino History Of British Rock series. I don't have any of the other CDs listed in the databse.

My copy of London 9639 lists a time of (2:13), not (2:05) as Paul Haney's copy does.

Interesting find Paul C. Maybe Pat can confirm if the stereo version is the LP version or an alternate take? Also would be nice to know if all the mono versions are the 45 version.

There certainly is a difference between the 45 and the stereo vinyl LP as the guitar work is completely different between the two near the end of the song.
