Jim informs me his commercial 45 copy of Rose Royce's "Car Wash" has an actual run time of 3:13, not 3:18 as stated on the record label.

Is the ":18 longer than the 45 version" copy of "Car Wash" on "Billboard Top Hits 1977" simply a longer fade than the 45 version?

The answer to my own question is yes -- I found a 45 of "Car Wash" on YouTube and it starts fading after 3:00, while the Billboard CD version keeps going a while longer before fading.
However, the database says the actual time of the 45 version is 3:13 (or 3:12 for the promo), but on this 45 it actually does run to the stated time of 3:18: Rose Royce - Car Wash (45 on YouTube) Edited by VWestlife |

possible it ran longer than the U.S. 45? |

Here's the only video I could find of the u.S. 45. Due to the poor condition of the record and the low quality of the recording, it's hard to tell for sure, but it does have a quicker fade than the UK 45, ending at around 3:13:
