Anyone know anything about the edit of Sting's "All This Time"? I have the CD single, and it runs the full ~4:54 of the album version. Hitdiscs at the time had an edit, and I suspect the promo single had the same one. Can anyone confirm (1) whether this is available anywhere, and (2) if not, where the song was cut?

Thanks - Eric

eric_a:

I have a promo CD copy of Sting's "All This Time" on A&M 7486. (Somehow I overlooked this disc while posting on the "DJ Edit Additions..." thread.) It contains two tracks:

1) All This Time - edit (3:59)
2) All This Time (4:54)

Hope this helps!

I didn't know there was an edit of this until I stumbled across it on a TM Century CD. The commercial 45 has the album version (labeled 4:54), so I never bothered looking for the edit.

It's an easy edit from the version on The Soul Cages, and here are the instructions:

Keep 0:00.0-0:44.5 of the LP version. If the opening downbeat at 1.5 seconds in (after short opening drum fill) is beat #1, then edit on the snare at beat #92.
Remove the 96 beats from 0:44.5-1:29.8.
Keep the 405 beats from 1:29.8-4:41.7.
Put a 32-beat fade from 4:26.7-4:41.7. The fade starts where the LP fade starts, but it fades about 7 seconds more quickly.

Your mixdown will run about 3:56, with an edit at 0:44.5 and a 32-beat fade from 3:41-3:56.

FYI - The samples on the TM Century CD line up with those on The Soul Cages, but won't cancel completely with a level change, so the TM CD has has a different EQ than The Soul Cages.

I just wanted to add that the vinyl 45 (A&M 75021) also
has the full LP version. I add this because the comment
on the site only refers to the CD single.

I have that same 45-rpm disc. I had a UK 12" single buried somewhere, that has the edit.
