my commercial 45 of the u2 song "angel of harlem" issued as island 99254 states a run time on the label as 3:42 but actually runs 3:43 and is a slight fade of the full length 3:49 cd/lp version.....this 45 run time s/b noted in the db...

Does anyone own the import CD single of Angel of Harlem? The listed time is 3:46 which is in between the LP and 45 length so was wondering if the printed time was off and if it is the 45 or lp length.

Thanks.

Are any of you fine gentleman equipped with this single remix on CD? I believe it's not just a fade of the LP but rather a subtle remix.

Tracked down a copy and it's definitely remixed. Label states "Remixed by Shelly Yakus".

Most noticeable to me was the vocal on the remix is double-tracked during the chorus ("So looong...Angel of Harlem...") and the added vocal line is drenched in reverb. It's a dry, single-tracked vocal on the LP mix, which is the version also included on the Best Of 1980-1990 CD.

The brass track also seem to be slightly louder in the mix.

Hey Underground Dub,

What source did you use? Did you use an actual 45 or a CD source (hopefully the import CD single :-))? I am curious if the Import CD Single I purchased uses the 45 remix?

Thanks.

I have the promo CD (PR-2559-2), and it also says "Remixed by Shelly Yakus." The listed time is 3:42, but the actual time is 3:43, just like Ed's 45.

I think the remix is universally available on all CD singles released for "Angel Of Harlem", promotional and commercial.

I started with a beat up 7" as my source and needed to hear a clear CD version to confirm the mix differences I was perceiving... shame this didn't make it onto the Best Of 1980-1990 CD as they've never assembled a Rattle And Hum deluxe edition.
