Here's one for the "Am I Crazy?" file.

I distinctly remember once hearing "When I Need You" on the radio, and the instrumental break was without the saxophone solo. Anybody know the source of this, if in fact I'm not imagining things?

Thanks.
Doug

That version was on original promo copies of the vinyl album and on early commercial pressings of the album.

Thank god they replaced the synthesizer with a saxophone; it's arguably the most climactic part of the record.

I have an early pressing of the LP. I dislike the overdubbed sax solo. It doesn't sound right to me.

The LP version without the sax solo does appear on an import CD. It's a 1996 UK release called Love Songs (total of 18 tracks on the Music Club label: MCCD 273).
