the db states the hit version is the 3:57 solo version
with britney spears alone; i checked the hot 100 charts on the billboard website from that period and it shows as featuring nicki minja & kesha. question is, which version was/is considered the hit version? the 3:57 britney solo version or the 4:44 remix version featuring nicki minaj & kesha? |

It's possible some stations played the remix in this area, but I only ever recall hearing the solo version. Maybe Paul Haney would know, but I wonder if the remix versions end up being the ones shown on the chart based on being the most downloaded/streamed version, even if top 40 radio is playing a different version.

Same strategy that was used on Rihanna's S&M collaboration was
used here. The song had already cracked the Top 10 as a solo track but the first week sales of the Kesha/Minaj remix boosted it to its peak position of three- hence Billboards reference of it. The lions share of the airplay for virtually its entire Hot 100 run was the solo version. Edited by Glenpwood |

Again same situation. Both are hit versions and should be labeled as such. If it charted on the Hot 100, I see no reason to ignore it.
