In 2012 just wanted to point out that I don't recall radio playing a bleeped out version or wanting to deal with the title of Get Your Ass Back Home.
This correct clean version with title changed appeared on a NOW compilation as Get Yourself Back Home and the title was changed specifically by the label. Whitburn in the Annual still has the single listed as Get Your Ass Back Home, which is the explicit version of the title. This is clearly incorrect. In this post you will find the cover of the promo CD single sent out to stations. As you can see no mention of the word "ass" in the title. ![]() Edited by PopArchivist |

I was under the impression that the Hot 100 generally went with the commercially released title rather than a modified title only available for radio.
Could anybody out there correct me if I'm wrong or if this has changed over the years?! Thanks! Andy |

Andy, The CD promo in 2012 was not issued as Get Your Ass Back Home as evidenced above and was available, even if limited to the public. NOW 43 even issued Get Yourself Back Home as one of its tracks and they get their releases from the labels instead of an edited out "ass" from the song title. That is because that was what was played on radio and released as a single was that version. The explicit version is the album version. To my knowledge there was no CD promo of Get Your Ass Back Home containing the explicit version as an official release for obvious reasons. Edited by PopArchivist |

I'm still confused.
So "Get Yourself Home" was commercially available on the download sites when it was charting? Thanks for helping me out. Andy Edited by AndrewChouffi |

My copy from TM is titled "Self Back Home." I don't know
if there was an official release with that title or if that was TM's renaming of the song. Pat has it in the database as "Ass Back Home." |

This song is not on my domestic copy of Now 43. Are you referring to an import Now 43?

Whitburn in the Annual still has the single listed as
Get Your Ass Back Home, which is the explicit version of the title. This is clearly incorrect. I think some clarification is needed here. In cases like this, we usually defer to how Billboard shows the title on the actual chart(s). For the entire 23 week Hot 100 run, they showed the title as "Ass Back Home", so that is what we show (note: there's no "Get Your" in the title). Also, this was the title when we downloaded the song off of iTunes at the time, which both RR and BB considered the "official" commercial single title. Edited by Paul Haney |

I don't believe a bleeped version exists. On the clean physical CD (which I don't have), the song is titled "A** Back Home". The iTunes digital file I purchased from the clean album in January 2012 is titled "A** Back Home (Get Yourself Back Home)". So it would appear that versions titled "A** Back Home" have the 'Get yourself back home' lyrics (They are not bleeped). As far as I can determine, the version titled "A** Back Home" and the version titled "Get Yourself Back Home" are the same.

I have a bleeped version from Primecuts Paul C if you want to hear it. The ass is completely edited out and the s curse is censored the same way the clean radio edit is. The Clean Radio Edit from Primecuts and the promo clean edit (which is Get Yourself Back Home) are clearly the same song minus the chorus difference of change of title. My point was I only heard the NOW 42 edit, which is what some radio stations played. It is very possible they could have played the Primecuts censored version, but NOW That's What I Call Music here in the US generally puts only the most popular radio edits on its releases, and the promo edit clearly supports my position. I only use ITunes when absolutely necessary since they are not lossless. |
