I have a friend who has a 45 of this song (Hunt S-H-324 A Product of Globe Record Corp). We just came across it (he’d bought a friend's collection of 1000s of 45s recently). It is not the same recording as the familiar one we’re used to. I’ve heard this version only once, that being on Dick Bartley’s radio show in the 80s! It is true stereo, 3-track. Add'l info on the 45 is "Produced by sure record co.-Full Frequency Stereo". And, it is M- (I've already MP3'd it too)!

Any ideas gang? Did they in fact re-cut the song at some point in stereo? Would like any information on it.

On three of the four CDs listed in the database on which this song runs (2:23) to (2:25), the database states the song runs faster than the 45. On the fourth CD, however, the Varese Sarabande release, 25 Rockin' Instrumentals, the song also runs considerably faster than the 45 (by more than 5%). The speed differences make the recording sound substantially different. (As the notations for the CDs on which the song runs 2:30 or more suggest, the 45 runs 2:23).

I've seen the stereo 45 but do not own it. It is in fact a re-recording as the original was done to mono directly and they wanted to put a stereo mix out so they recorded the stereo version within a few months of the mono hit version.
Live in stereo.

nice to get a 7-year-old question answered, and better still, discover yet
