OK, me confused.

Jr. Walker's "Walk In The Night" is available on the "Hitsville USA Volume 2" box set (which seemingly uses all 45 versions like Volume 1), with a running time of (4:13). Every 45 I've seen listed on E-Bay has a (3:55) running time on the label, but without a turntable I don't know how accurate the time is.

By any chance, does anyone have this 45 (it may be a reach, since it only peaked at #46 on BILLBOARD) and can confirm the actual running time? (This is why I was hoping Hip-O would finally get around to releasing the 1972 Complete Motown Singles set, although granted that's not a guarantee that the actual 45 would end up on there.)

Thanks.
Doug

A "reach"? Hey, not for me... it's a fave! To this day, "Walk In The Night" takes me right back to those warm Spring evening treks to the campus radio station during the student protests of 1972. Those were some interesting times...

My stock copy on Soul 35095 runs (4:12.5) in spite of its (3:55) listed time.

If Motown had been smart, they would have reissued "WITN" six years later, after Raphael Ravenscroft's solo on "Baker Street" had whetted the public's sax appetite.

Good point. And thanks for the knowledge of the run time.
