I have quite a few of that series, most of the stuff on
them seems pretty AC-ish. The 91xx are all songs from
1991, likewise the 92xx series is all from '92. It's
almost like it was issued as a recurrent series. We were
an AC station, so maybe there were 91xx and 92xx discs
for other formats too. Not sure how long it
continued...the station mine came from transitioned to
BPI Chartbreakers around '93.

I've carried that 'edited' version for years in my DJ
library not even thinking twice of looking in Pat's
database to realize it was never an official edit. lol.

John, up until a day ago, Pat listed 3:51 as one of the DJ edits in the song notes. He removed it given the new information I was able to supply.

When heard on the radio it made me think that the air personality should say "we now join Whitney Houston already in progress."

So is the 3:51 a real radio edit? Or is the 4:30 we all know and love the correct version....

You said you supplied some info Aaron. What did you supply?

Favorite two expressions to live by on this board: "You can't download vinyl" and "Not everything is available on CD."

Hi Rich, I believe this is the information Aaron supplied
to Pat:

As for the version that has the edited intro, I believe
that version was done by TM Century, appearing originally
on HitDisc 972A. It was subsequently included on GoldDisc
944 in their Hot AC library.

When the song was a current hit I always remembered hearing it with the shorter ending. In fact when I finally heard the full ending it was quite jarring! The version with the intro cut off came quite a while later, when the song was entering recurrent status and stations were growing tired of playing a song with such a long, slow intro.

They did the same thing with songs like Seal's "Kiss From a Rose" and Melissa Etheridge's "Come to My Window" -- initially playing the full-length version, and then later playing the edited version.
