Todd, I was kidding about BBAF and FABB; that was poking fun at Atlantic's use of "Frida" in the parenthetical artist names on the label, rather than Anni-Frid. All three of my Atlantic 45s have the "ABBA (Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky.... uh... sorry, wrong record... "ABBA (Bjorn, Benny, Anna & Frida) artist credit, as do the front and back cover and labels on the Atlantic Waterloo vinyl LP.

Plastic Products and Monarch were two of the three primary independent pressing plants Atlantic contracted to manufacture the label's U.S. 45s in 1974. Plastic Products generally shipped their Atlantic singles to Waterloo, Iowa, along with the central and southern states, while Monarch handled the west (with styrene product.) The third primary pressing plant was Specialty Records (no relation to Art Rupe's L.A.-based record label) in Olyphant, PA, which shipped its ABBA singles to the eastern states.

The deadwax matrix numbers are important identifiers, of course, but in Atlantic's case, also knowing where the single was pressed provides a clearer picture of where a particular pressing variant (like the kind we often dissect right here) was most likely to have been sold.

Thank goodness the group and label didn't elect to go with the name "FABB"! ;-)

While we're at it, does anyone have a copy of ABBA's Waterloo vinyl LP who can pass along the title track's run time?
