Not listed in the database, but I'm looking for information on the "hit" version in the US for Strangelove.
I have the US 1992 CD single issue of Strangelove (Sire 9 40328-2). Track 1 is a non-described version which runs about 3:45. There was a US promo CD single from 1987 (PRO-CD-3213), which included 4 tracks: 1. Strangelove - Remix Edit 3:46 2. Strangelove - 7" Version 3:44 3. Strangelove - 7" Blind Edit 3:57 4. Strangelove - Highjack Mix 6:29 Does the 3:45 version from the 1992 retail single match either the Remix/Edit or 7" Version from the 1987 promo CD single, both of which run approximately the same length? |

Off the top of my head I believe it is different. I have this promo CD so if you want to hear track 1 I can send it to you if you PM me. I think I have the commercial single as well and from memory it's track 2 off of the promo. The Remix Edit is awesome!

Would it be correct to say that the remix edit was likely the "radio version," or would the 7" version?
...Or have we determined the CD single version is different from this promo disc versions... and would THAT version be the "radio version?" The collection, "Hit," has a 3:46 version listed. I also have the remix edit, running about 3:52. I then have a 4:53 length version (LP version maybe?), a "pain mix," and the 12" extended mix. I'd just like to put the radio version on my stream. |

It's hard to remember all the mixes I've heard on radio for this since I heard the song in several radio formats.
But I will say the mix that sounds most like what I heard most in 1987 is in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIrm0dHbCDU To my ears, it sounds like the 7" mix. Hope that helps. MM Edited by MMathews |

Back in '94 my local radio station (Philadelphia area) resurrected a few
late '80s songs and this was one of them. Back then I used to believe they were brand new since they were in heavy rotation. They used to always play track 1 from the promo single listed above. Another one that comes to mind is New Order's "True Faith." This station (WPST) always played "The Morning Sun Remix / Edit" (aka "7 Inch" in the UK) despite the release of "True Faith '94" that same year (most likely since it was not released in the U.S.). |

This is the version that I heard on my local radio station and still hear played today. The YouTube clip lists it as "Remix". Notice that it starts with a synth intro before the drums kick in. The video shows that it is from promo CD 3213. The "Remix Edit" on there plays a different version. Does anyone know where I can find this mix as heard in the YouTube video? And what is it called? Are there two different pressings of this promo CD perhaps? Thanks for any info! Edited by Bellenger1981 |

I just listened to the intro from the YT clip as well as the intro of each version on the promo CD. NONE of the versions on the promo CD match the YT video.

Thanks, Aaron. Indeed. I wonder where this mix
originates. |

Well, I took a look at my promo CD, and it does have “RE-1” in the
matrix. I guess there’s a possibility that another non-RE-1 promo CD exists. I’ll keep my eye out! |

Thanks, Aaron. I bet that is our answer. I'm guessing
that the original 3213 promo CD pressing had this "Remix" version, as heard in the YouTube clip. |
