Whitburn lists this as 3:35, but on CD it seems to run anywhere from 3:51 to 3:59. Can anyone verify the true running time of the vinyl 45?

My white label dj 45 states a running time of 3:35 and actually runs 3:36. It is an edit of the LP version.

Good catch, Brian. My book doesn't have any indication of "LP Version" next to the song. I have the 45 at my parents' place, and it seems to me that commercial copies also used the edit.

There's only two edits---both during the guitar solo. It's easy to make with some editing software.

I have this track on two CDs, one of which is Here Come The Hits on Polytel CBS Direct from 1985. "The Warrier" runs about 3:36 on this CD, so I would assume it's the single edit. The CD also features a couple of other single edits. On Time-Life's Sounds Of The Eighties 1984 it runs about 3:56.

David, ma man! Thanks, buddy! [Now it's just a matter of finding it... that's a Canadian-only comp!]

Aww, I got excited for a second, 'cause I thought, "Wait, I have that CD." But mine is "BRING ON the Hits," a 1987 Canadian CD from CBS. I have a couple late '80s Candadian comps... I really must go through them and see if there's anything unique there.

Okay, I finally got a copy of the Canadian "Bring on the Hits" from Ebay, and it does indeed have what appears to be the 45 version of "The Warrior," running 3:33.

It also appears it may have some unique 45 versions, which I'll detail in the "45 versions in import CDs" thread, so go there.
