While the printed time of Don Henley's "Sunset Grill" says (6:22) on the 45 label, the actual time is (6:28).

Aaron:

I picked up a promo 45 of this song a few weeks back. Listed time is 4:26, actual is 4:29.

Yes, I have replicated that edit, Ed. The opening drums were chopped off, and the song was faded early.

Can anyone with the promo 45 version provide some more specific editing details, please? At exactly what point does the promo 45 version begin and where does the end fade commence? Thanks in advance.

The open drums are removed from 0:00 to 0:15, and the song begins
on the downbeat. Then, with what you have remaining, create a fade
out from 4:14 to 4:29.

After listening to the full version, I almost wonder if you also couldn't replicate the promo by cutting from (4:23) to (6:07) of the full version (then snip off the opening drums). Then you wouldn't have to fade.

Quite possibly. Those two sections might be identical.

I just checked my copy (Geffen promo 28906) and confirm that you can make this cut, and the fades sync up perfectly.

One note, I just realized that on Building The Perfect Beast, the intro drums start on the end of the previous
track, fading in over about 10 seconds. That explains why the LP version is shorter than the version on the single and
greatest hits comps. If you start with this LP version, you need to offset Aaron and Doug's edit points to 0:05, 4:13,
and 5:57, all on downbeats.

Pat: perhaps these appearances should be classified as LP vs. Single version?
