The single version runs anywhere from 3:57-4:01.

The album version on “Energy”, is 4:19

I found a promo running 3:17, listing it as the “Hot Open Version”.

That version wasn’t found under the 1979 song releases.

Any info regarding the promo version, would be much appreciated.

Found this on YouTube. Not sure if it's the right version, but the timing is very close...

I'm surprised this one hasn't been documented yet. I have this promo 45, which has a listed time of 3:17 and actual time of 3:22. The only difference is that the slow intro has been removed. The Hot Open Version starts with the piano notes at 0:36 of the 45/LP version.

I also noticed the database doesn't mention that the vinyl LP has a printed time of 4:19. Does it really run the same length as the 45 (around 3:59), or is it longer? I can pull my LP copy from storage if nobody else has it handy.

Pat, I noticed you updated the database entry with the 45 run time, and I wanted to clarify that this is the DJ 45 with the 3:22 run time.

That’s the Promo 45 I was talking about. You may want to verify the time on
your album , but Discogs does list it at 4:19. I have “The Legendary Pointer
Sisters” (3 CD Set)

which runs 4:01. Their 1982 “Greatest Hits”, lists it at 4:19. Any other
“Greatest Hits” I’ve looked at, seem to vary between

3:57-4:01.

I thought I provided the links to both. Anyways, you may need to pull your
copy as I do not have that album, but Discogs does list it at 4:19 from their
“Energy” album. I do have “The Legendary Pointer Sisters” (3 CD Set)
which runs 4:01. Their 1982 “Greatest Hits”, lists it at 4:19, according to
Discogs. Any other “Greatest Hits” I’ve looked at, seem to vary between
3:57-4:01. That promo you have is probably the same one from the YouTube
link.

Yes, what I meant by my comment is that nobody had previously brought it up (you were the first one), and it's also not mentioned in the database. A nice discovery on your part!

Side note: The YouTube link is not exactly the promo 45, so don't use that as your guide to creating it. Just chop off everything until the piano at 0:36. I can hear faint audio/reverb in the YouTube dub just prior to when the piano starts, and this is not heard on the promo 45. Also, the YT video dumps out very quickly at the end, which is not how the song ends.

Thank you so much for your quick response regarding this! I rarely post on
here much less start a new topic, but I remembered to search here first,
before opening a new topic. If all I need to do is chop off 36 seconds, then
I can make the promo 45 version myself.

As far as the 4:19 album version, I can’t find it on YouTube but that’s fine! :)

I'll grab my LP from storage, and then we'll know for sure if there really is a 4:19 length.

Aaron, I was going to ask if that YouTube clip was the real deal, thanks for verifying that it's not quite correct.
Sounds like the actual promo edit is easy to create (and for me, the easier the better!).
