pat

it should be noted in the db that the 45's picture sleeve indicates the "ballad" version as the A-side (side one) and the "playout version" as the B-side (side two)....the lower matrix number is on the "ballad" version side #zss171951 versus #zss 171952 for the "playout version" as well....this should be noted in the db as to which version is the "HIT" version, ie A-side of the 45.........

Good point, Ed. The "ballad" version is the one I've always heard played on the radio and thus definitely what I would consider to be the "hit" version. I can't say I've ever heard the "playout" version on the airwaves. Yet it's interesting how both versions are included on Paul McCartney's Give My Regards to Broad Street CD/LP, the commercial 45, and the Wingspan compilation.

If only they had included the full-length "Coming Up" with the audience chanting on "Wingspan." Though I understand it is there in its entirety on a bootleg of the entire concert it was taken from.

The Playout Version on Wingspan is the 45 B-side, but it has the first second of the intro cut off, so it starts right as the horns do, instead of on the synth chord that starts beforehand.

There is a very good box called "The Paul McCartney - The
Singles Collection 1971-1990" from the year 2012, made by
fans, an unmissable bootleg, in flac quality, where all
the singles were delivered in the best possible quality
and where it was included:

- No More Lonely Nights (ballad version) (4:39)
- No More Lonely Nights (playout version, 45 mix) (3:56)
- No More Lonely Nights (extended playout version) (8:11)
- No More Lonely Nights (special dance mix) (6:53)
- No More Lonely Nights (special dance edit) (4:23)
- No More Lonely Nights (Mole mix) (8:43)
- No More Lonely Nights (Warren Sanford extended edit)
(7:10)

cheers
