It has been mentioned in another thread that I did not include the "Todd Terry Club Mix" of the song "Missing" in the 10th edition of Top 40 Music On Compact Disc. This is the 45 version, and was supposedly track 11 on the cd "Amplified Heart" by Everything But The Girl. I pulled out my cd of "Amplified Heart" and there is no track 11 on this cd. Then I went to Ebay to see if there was an 11 track cd listed and the answer is no, the first 6 cd's I checked were all the 10 track version. So if anyone has this 11 track cd can you tell me if this mysterious track 11 is a hidden track or is it printed on the outside of the cd jacket?

Pat:

Unfortunately, I sold my copy of Everything But the Girl's Amplified Heart CD several years ago, but I'm 99% certain it had the "Todd Terry Club Mix" of "Missing" on Track 11. I checked www.allmusic.com and www.amazon.com and both show Amplified Heart with "Missing" on Track 11 (Amazon specifically states it's the "Todd Terry Club Mix"). You can view the track listings at these links:

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:9x7m968ofep8

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000002IZ1/qid=111358 9546/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/002-2565921-2240037

I read some of the reader reviews for this CD on the amazon.com website. Several readers claim the "Todd Terry Club Mix" is on their copy, while others say their copy only contains the album version found on Track 6.

Just to clarify, the version that radio stations played, called the "Remix Edit" (which is slightly different than the "Todd Terry Club Mix"), was not the 45 version? According to another thread, two different promo singles have the "Remix Edit" and not the "Todd Terry Club Mix."

Now that y'all bring this up, I seem to recall that the Remix Edit was added to later pressings of the CD album as an unlisted bonus track -- I think a sticker on the front of the packaging was the only indication it was on there. I don't think the remix was added to the album until the song was a hit. This could be false memory syndrome, as I'd completely forgotten about it, but I do seem to recall this being the case.

The Remix Edit was the 45 version. It is a short version of the Todd Terry Club Mix. The edit was not on the commercial CD single, only the full length Todd Terry Club Mix.

Brian:

What Aaron is claiming though is the "Remix Edit" on the two track promo CD on Atlantic PRCD6519 is slightly different than the "Todd Terry Club Mix". This is odd because you're saying the "Remix Edit" on your three track promo CD copy on Atlantic PRCD 5917-2 is exactly the same as the "Todd Terry Club Mix". I don't think Aaron has his promo copy anymore, so we'll have to wait for someone to confirm the Atlantic PRCD6519 DJ CD single release. We all know just about anything is possible in the whacky world of Top 40 music collecting... I think this is part of what makes this hobby so doggone fun!

Todd, I don't own a copy of the promo single, but I have a CD-R copy of the "Remix Edit" from the two-track promo single. However, my commercial CD single is packed away at my parents' house in another state, so I don't have access to the "Todd Terry Club Mix" to compare the two.

I just pulled out my copy of the "Remix Edit" taken from the 2-track promo single. Here's the details:

Song starts with just the beat for four seconds. Then the music comes from 0:04 to 0:20. At the 20 second mark, the vocals begin. The song begins fading at 3:59 and is completely faded out by 4:09.

If my memory serves me right, the difference between the "Remix Edit" was not a big difference in length, but it was the way the intros were. Can anyone confirm what the intro of the "Todd Terry Club Mix" sounds like? It seems to me that it was just the beat all the way up to where the vocals started. In other words, the music didn't come in until the vocals did. But, I haven't heard this version in years, so I can't say for sure.

Aaron:

Sounds to me like you've just described the Todd Terry Club Mix to a tee! Based on your description, the Remix Edit on your promo CD is the Todd Terry Club Mix (a.k.a. the single version).

By the way, the commercial maxi-CD single of Everything But the Girl's "Missing" contains the complete and unedited version of the Todd Terry Club Mix on Track 3 running 4:56. This version can also be found on the CD: Hot Luv (EMI-Capitol Music Group 54547). It may also be on 100% Dance (Compass Productions 973070287) though I don't have a copy of that disc to check.

Todd, I think we've been agreeing all along, but we're misunderstanding each other. Brian is saying that the "Remix Edit" is a short version of the "Todd Terry Club Mix," so in other words, they aren't exactly the same. I'm also saying that there's a difference between the two, although I couldn't remember what the version on the commercial CD-maxi single sounded like.

Can it be concluded that 1) the 45 version is the "Remix Edit" which is a shortened version of the "Todd Terry Club Mix" and 2) those two mixes are not exactly the same, because one is shorter?
