My commercial 45, which is stereo, has a listed time of (2:59) and an actual time of (2:57). I only post this info because its only current database CD appearance runs (2:53).

Hmm, and I think that's its only CD appearance, too.

Does anyone know if Sister Janet Mead ever released a vinyl LP containing "The Lord's Prayer"? Or was the song only made available on 45?

Todd, Sister Janet Mead was from Australia. She recorded the song for the Festival Records label there. A&M had an option to release Festival product in the U.S., and issued the 45. An album, called "With You I Am", featuring "The Lord's Prayer", was issued in her home country. It does not appear to me, based on my current resources, that this album was released in the U.S., however. Australian Import CDs appear to be available for her, though, on the "Hardrush Music" website.

Thanks for that informative bit of info, Jim. I can't find anything about a U.S. release of the Sister Janet Mead With You I Am LP either. Unless someone steps forward with evidence to the contrary, we can conclude the 2:53 length on the song's lone CD appearance is not reflective of an LP length (at least, not one in the U.S. anyway).

Ten years later...

For what it's worth, Discogs lists an album called The Lord's Prayer as being released in the US in 1974. It's listed as A&M Records catalog number SP 3639. It gives a printed time of 2:42 for the song "The Lord's Prayer". I don't know what the actual time is, or if it's the same version as on the 45.
There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

I missed this thread back in '07. I used to own the A&M album, in fact I still had it when this thread was new!
So yup, I can verify there were copies out there.

I just picked up 2 promo 45's for this song. It's tough to
find a copy that's not cue burned or worn, even though
they're listed as NM.

Both my copies have a run time of 2:59.

So what you're saying is you had a devil of a time finding a clean copy?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Coincidental, now that the good Sister Janet's passed.
You know you're really older when you think that younger singer Jesse McCartney's related in anyway to former Beatle Paul McCartney.
