This top 10 hit from George Michael's bass player is available in LP form on:
Keep 0:00.0-3:59.4 of the LP version. Edit on the "4" beat, as in 1-2-3-4. This falls right in the middle of the word "me". Keep 4:09.9-4:41.2 (end) of the LP version. The total run time of the 45 is about 4:30. Edited by crapfromthepast |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

Pat has incorporated Jim's promo CD single info into the database. I also wanted to pass along that the actual commercial 45 run time of Deon Estus with George Michael's "Heaven Help Me" is 4:26. (Timing info compliments of abagon. The printed record label time is 4:25.)

Should he or shouldn't he? Artist credit is always so
confusing and this is yet another example. The front sleeves for this single show this is by Deon Estus With Additional Vocals by George Michael. The back sleeves relegate Michael to background vocals along with Estus. And the physical singles (record, cassingle, promo CD) only list Estus as the artist. So, should this song be credited to just Estus or to both Estus and Michael? (Why do record companies make this so frustrating?!?) |

I put it down as Don Estus With George Michael as indicated in the 45 and promo CD release, just leaving out "additional vocals by" to simplify since it is impled... promo CD https://www.discogs.com/Deon-Estus-With-George-Michael-Heave n-Help-Me/release/4274046 45 https://www.discogs.com/Deon-Estus-With-George-Michael-Heave n-Help-Me/release/5042626 Edited by PopArchivist |

Funny...that's exactly where I sourced my confusion!
The sleeve credits Michael, but the actual 45 and CD don't. Despite Michael's obvious contribution, I lean toward not crediting him since the record itself doesn't. At least Michael got some credit unlike, say, Kenny Rogers ("What Are We Doin' In Love"), Stevie Nicks ("Whenever I Call You Friend"), Olivia Newton-John ("Fly Away") and so, so many others. |

Just revisiting this song, 13 years later.
The 45 is still not available on CD. Fortunately, it's an easy edit that deletes 16 beats, from a snare hit in the word "me" at 3:59, to another snare hit in the word "me" at 4:09 or 4:10. You'll know if you got the edit points right if the word "your" immediately after the edit. |

To clarify, it is available on the promo CD single, which is quite rare. I don't know of any other CD source for it, though.

Not domestically. I bought this a long time ago. It is available on a comp out of Germany called So80s. https://www.discogs.com/Blank-Jones-So80s-Soeighties-6/relea se/13739056 Edited by PopArchivist |

That's not the 45 version... it's a bad edit of the LP version. For some reason this CD has the intro notes and first 4 bars (11 seconds) of the song cut off... it starts with the muted trumpet and runs 4:28. It's too bad it's not even the correct album version. The fidelity on this compilation is really good. |
