After doing some research on Lita Ford's two big hits, "Kiss Me Deadly" and "Close My Eyes Forever" (duet with Ozzy Osbourne), I found that there is more than one version for each.

I'm pretty sure all promo and commercial 45s of "Close My Eyes Forever" have a version called "Remix." DJ copies of "Kiss Me Deadly" have both the LP Version and the Single Version, and both versions run (3:59). I'm not sure which (3:59) mix is included for commercial 45s.

A friend of mine has a promo CD single called "Lita's Big Ones" that has both the remix of "Close My Eyes Forever" and the single version of "Kiss Me Deadly." I'm working on getting a copy so that I can compare the differences between these versions and what's been released on compilations and full-length CDs.

The book does not list a version for either song, but it should probably at least list "LP version" next to Lita's debut album, Lita.

I'm glad you brought this up, Aaron...

On the Hits of the 80's CD box set (Columbia River Entertainment Group 310001) listed in the 10th edition, Pat comments on "Kiss Me Deadly" as follows: (special radio version with the edited lyric "didn't get a break" instead of "didn't get laid").

Does anyone know if this alternate lyric appeared on the commercial 45?

My copy of the commercial 45 has the "didn't get laid" lyric.

I am surprised that this thread did not get more response. Here is what I have come up with - Close My Eyes Forever was indeed slightly remixed for 45 release so I have added the comment "LP mix" to all existing versions of that song on cd.

With regard to "Kiss Me Deadly" as board members have already discussed, the commercial single had the "didn't get laid" lyric as did the original dj vinyl 45's. My dj 45 says single version on one side with the "didn't get laid" lyric and the other side states "LP version" which also has the "didn't get laid" lyric. Both versions run 3:59 and I cannot discern any difference between what the vinyl 45 states is the "single version" and the "LP version" which is on the flip side. The dj maxi cd single titled "Lita's Big Ones" does have the edited version with the lyric "didn't get a break".

Does anyone hear a difference between the commercial 45 and LP version of "Kiss Me Deadly"?

I have the version with the alternate lyric from the promo single and the original lyric version on a compilation disc. Comparing those two, I don't hear any difference in the mix; however, I don't have the actual 45 and LP to compare (both with original lyrics).

According to the other thread, Andrew says that the Best Of CD has the remix, so you wouldn't hear a difference compared to your cassingle.

Just had a promo 45 come in and wish I'd seen this before I ordered it. Both sides of my promo have the "didn't get laid" lyric. In this case, "single Version" doesn't mean "censored version!" So, I'm out $8.50- and will continue my search for the censored version! :)

Found a seller with the Lita's Big Ones for $7.95.
At least this way, I'll have the censored version of "Kiss Me Deadly" and the remix for "Close My Eyes Forever."

2 more off the list!

Pat, I have two different promo 45s for this song. One is the one you also have, on the standard RCA "cream colored" promo label, with one side stating "LP Version" (deadwax 6866-7-R-A), and is the same version that's on the commercial 45. The other side of the cream-colored promo 45 states "Single Version" (deadwax 6866-7-R-C), with, as you state, both sides including the "didn't get laid" lyric. However, my second promo 45 features a RCA white promo label. Again, the "LP Version" is on one one side of it, but the other side of THIS promo 45 states "Special Radio Version" (deadwax 6866-7-R-D-SP2), and includes the "didn't get a break" lyric. The listed time for this last version is also (3:59).
