	I reverse-engineered the Digital 45, and I'm assuming that the Digital 45 has the same edit points as the real 45. Here are instructions for recreating the 45 edit, using the 4-CD Storyteller (1989) as the source. Finding the edit points was a little tricky, since the song uses a programmed rhythm section that repeats a lot. I'd put my confidence level around 80% for the edit points. The good news is that if I can't hear a misplaced edit, you probably won't be able to, either. Segment 1: 32 beats long Extends from 0:00 to 0:12.2 of both the LP version and the 45 edit. This segment ends on a downbeat. Remove the 16 beats from 0:12.2 to 0:18.2 of the LP version. Segment 2: 204 beats long Extends from 0:18.2 to 1:34.4 of the LP version Extends from 0:12.2 to 1:28.4 of the 45 edit This segment ends on a downbeat. Remove the 16 beats from 1:34.4 to 1:40.3 if the LP version. Segment 3: 341 beats long (good thing I found a new counter!) Extends from 1:40.3 to 3:47.6 of the LP version Extends from 1:28.4 to 3:35.6 of the 45 edit The segment ends on a snare hit. Remove the 32 beats from 3:47.6 to 3:59.5 of the LP version. Segment 4: 112 beats long Extends from 3:59.5 to 4:41.3 of the LP version Extends from 3:35.6 to 4:17.4 of the 45 edit This segment ends on a snare hit. Remove the 16 beats from 4:41.3 to 4:47.3 of the LP version. Segment 5: Starts on a snare hit and extends to end of song Extends from 4:47.3 to 5:02.9 (end) of the LP version Extends from 4:17.4 to 4:33.1 (end) of the 45 edit The LP and 45 use the same fade points Your mixdown will run 4:31 (excluding the outro silence), with edit points at 0:12.2, 1:28.4, 3:35.6, and 4:17.4. 	Doers anybody have "Storyteller," and "The Definitive" to compare the EQ on this track between the two releases? If you believe YouTube, "Storyteller" sounds significantly crisper than The Definitive, so much so that the EQ is bringing different instruments to the forefront and I wondered for a moment if it was a different mix (I now believe they are identical mixes, just wildly different equalization). The Definitive video is the one that is labeled "2008 remaster" which seems even stranger. Was the original LP / single dull-sounding? Storyteller was put out in 1989 so unless this was a conscious artistic decision I don't understand why the newer master would sound like it's missing the high end of the older. I'd love to get some insight on this! I have no vinyl to compare to either CD. Edited by NightAire

	Storyteller has what I would call a bright and thin sound on most of the 80s tracks. It wouldn't surprise me if the Warner Brothers stuff on that box set was just digitally compiled from whatever digital album masters were used for the original first run of WB Rod Stewart CDs.
