New Record Research book will be published in July of
Cash Box's Pop charts of the 1980's. However, if you
view the sample pages, the first chart is R&B!

Is that a possible error (including the R&B chart for March 1980)?

Can't wait for this book, Paul?

Speaking of Record Research books, does anyone remember what was in this book exactly:
1960s Cream of the Pop

Ha! I just caught that too. The book hasn't actually
been put together yet. I don't do the scanning, but I do
look at every single chart as it's put together. I will
be looking extra closely at each chart and will be 100%
sure that we've got the correct ones!

Gordon, the Cream of the Pop book was a listing of Top 10
hits for each decade (1950s and 1960s) by artist. They
were custom printed, stapled booklets. We no longer
offer them for sale. The current Whitburn Book of Top 10
Hits is a much more comprehensive product.

Groovy, Paul! Will place an order on June 9.

Looking forward to the eventual Cash Box 50s & 90s charts!

And Music Vendor 1954-1963!

Yabba dabba...

So if I understand you correctly, Paul, there's nothing in the Cream of the Pop books that isn't in the current Whitburn Book of Top 10 Hits. Is that the case?

Yes, that is correct. In fact, there's WAY more in the
current Top 10 book!

Thanks Paul. Which of the 3 main companies (BB, RW, CB) were included in the Cream of the Pop top 10 book of the '60s?

BTW, I mentioned these 4 suggestions to you on the phone the other day but thought I'd mention them here, so that people can know this might be under consideration. (I know you'd still have some convincing to do - to Joel - I'm curious if anyone else here would like any of these):

* R&R Weekly Pop Charts - a '70s volume & '80s volume
* Billboard Pop Albums Charts 1970s (weekly charts) (1965-1969 exists)
* Across the Charts: 70s (pop, AC, country & R&B peaks) (a 1960s volume exists)
* Billboard Adult Pop Songs beyond 2006 (the last volume is almost 14 years old)

Cream of the Pop was Billboard info only.

Out of your 4 book suggestions, I think the Adult
Contemporary update is the most likely. Hopefully
sometime next year (2021).
