Does anyone know of any differences between the Album and
Single Versions of this song? I have 2 HL&TN compilations that label the song as "Single Mix", and I'm not hearing any major differences other than the Single Mix possibly having a little more reverb and maybe running a little faster than the Album Version. Anyone have any insight on this? |

Yes Dan,
The major difference is the single mix has more reverb! (It is a different mix though, it's not like they simply added reverb to the LP mix.) Andy |

Is anyone familiar with the Special Radio Remix serviced to radio on a 12” single? I picked up a copy years ago but have never had a chance to analyze carefully. |

This version on YouTube claims to be the Special Radio Remix. Listened to it once, but didn't hear any differences between it and the Single Mix.

Yes, the promo 12" "Special Radio Remix" was the single
mix serviced to AOR a couple of weeks before the single was issued. Andy |

The 45 label doesn't say anything about it being a "Single Mix" or give any mix/remix credits to anyone specific, so is it possible the 45 actually
has the Album Mix? Anyone here have the 45 to confirm? |

Good question, CDguy.
I own the PROMO 45 (also no remix mentions/credits) and it is the same mix as the promo 12" "Special Radio Remix". It sure is only subtly remixed. Another point I noticed was the opening keyboard melody line is brought out a little more upfront in the remix compared to the original album mix. Andy |

I'm not seeing a clarification in the database; which HL&TN CDs have the "single mix" with the extra reverb?
(Isn't it amazing that almost 35 years later we're STILL discovering single differences!!) |

Gene, the 2006 "Greatest Hits" has it listed as a "Single
Remix". The other one is an import compilation titled, "Collected". |

I have the '80s-era US CD pressing of Fore (1986). I assume that this disc includes the LP mix, but I don't have the vinyl LP to compare.
I don't know what's on the UK CD pressing of Fore. Note that the UK CD of Fore adds the UK 45 version of "The Power Of Love", which is different from the US 45/soundtrack version and is omitted from the US versions of Fore. There's a digitally identical clone of the US Fore on Chrysalis's The Heart Of Rock And Roll - The Best Of Huey Lewis And The News (1992). There's a differently-EQ'd version of the above two on Time-Life's Sounds Of The Eighties Vol. 19 The Late '80s (1996). |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.
