I have a couple of more songs that I would like to try to pinpoint edits on (if indeed edits are the only difference between single and album)--on both of these tunes I don't think I've ever heard the single version.
One is Janis Joplin's "Me And Bobby McGee" (LP runs roughly 4:30, 45 time from the label is 4:09). The other is Santana's "Oye Como Va" (LP runs roughly 4:15, 45 time from the label is 2:59). Thanks! Edited by sriv94 |

I created my own edit of Me and Bobby McGree, Doug. There's only one edit, and it's at a really weird place in the instrumental break. I don't know at the moment where it is, but she sings:
"Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee, whoa, oh" Then after the first eight beats of the instrumental break, with the piano, at about 3:28 there's three notes of an organ: doo-doo-doo. The first note is retained... the second two notes are taken from the second half of the instrumental break, where there's also three organ notes, coming in at about 3:47. It's a tricky edit... I worked on it for close to an hour before I was satisfied, but it sounds really seamless when you get it right. If you want, give me your email address and I'll send you an MP3 of the edited section from the vinyl 45. Edited by Brian W. |
