This is an update to a previous list of 12" extended versions I'm looking for on CD/WAVs. I've removed some items that have since been released and added 8 newly wanted items which are marked with a * (I didn't even know 12" singles existed for these when I originally posted this).

Can anyone tell me if these 12" mixes of top 40 hits are available on any CDs or CD-singles?

*Eurythmics - There Must Be an Angel
*Parton, Dolly - Baby I'm Burnin'
*Wilder, Matthew - The Kid's American
Branigan, Laura - Spanish Eddie
Carnes, Kim - Crazy in the Night
Hartman, Dan - Second Nature
Welch, Bob - Precious Love
Basil, Toni - Mickey (so far, all CDs have used clean vinyl sources for this)

And while I'm at it, does anyone know if these 12" versions (of non-top 40 hits) are available on any CDs:

*Streisand, Barbra - Emotion
*Carnes, Kim - Abadabadango
*Branigan, Laura - Maybe Tonight
*Young, John Paul - Lost in Your Love
*Young, John Paul - The Day That My Heart Caught Fire
Amazulu - Montego Bay
Aswad - Give a Little Love
Wilson, Mari - Just What I Always Wanted (US 12" remix) (the UK 12" remix is out on CD and I have that one.)

PS On a side note. There's a "weird" sound I hear in my 12" remix of Second Nature by Dan Hartman. It sounds like a cross between a periscope, a blip and a marimba, and it's kind of in the background. At first I thought it was maybe just a problem with my vinyl copy. But I listened to a vinyl transfer of this 12" from Burning The Ground, and it had the same noises in the same spots. On some places, it's right with the beat, but in other places, it's just way-off timing, which is why I thought it was a mistake. Does anyone know what this sound is exactly?

If you have the 12" or if it's on Youtube, here are a few of the more noticeable spots (even more noticeable if you listen on headphones!)

4:27 on the "A" of "the kid's American"
4:30 on the "hood" of "underneath the HOOD"
4:32 on the "mer" of "the kid's aMERican"
-I'm not talking about the clap sounds in this section because the noise I'm hearing is in many places on the record where there are no clap sounds. I'm pointing out the sound here because most of the instrumentation is gone, and so the sound is more noticeable when you only hear the claps and the voice along with it. :)

It's also at 1:44 on "school" of "high school" where there IS more instrumentation (not just claps). These sounds may not be noticeable other than on heaphones, particularly just on a cell phone, etc.

Good news, EdisonLite... Spanish Eddie (New Extended Remix Version) will be on the upcoming Now 12" 80s: 1985 - Part One.

Mostly it's a rehash of stuff that's been available for a while, but it's not much money, so even if you're getting it for one or two tracks, worth it.

Unfortunately NONE of the tracks I've been hoping for have appeared on any of the releases, but since most of them are somewhat rare and the NOW comps are not designed for collectors, not that surprising.

I find the 12" club mix of "Break My Stride" on 2 different CDs. 5:09 on one 5:10 on the other. Both parts of box sets.

12 Inch 80s You Spin Me - Disc 2

80s Remixed & Extended - Disc 2

Thanks about the Branigan news Tony. Though this upcoming release didn't show up on an Amazon search, I found the CD set with the full track listing here:

https://superdeluxeedition.com/news/now-1280s-1985-part-one/

I'm curious about this mix being called "NEW Extended Remix Version" - as in, is this not the original remix from 1985? Sometimes an actual 12" mix from back in the day will have "new ..." on the label description, so I went over to Discogs and the 12" is called "Vocal Extended Remix Version" and clocks in at 5:31. I also know from Branigan's former manager that there have been problems reissuing LB's "Hold Me" CD with extended mixes as bonus cuts - though I've never known what the reason was. (I assumed maybe the producer or remixer refused its release). Now I'm thinking, maybe the tapes were lost. Well, we'll have to see.

Charlie, thanks. But the Matthew Wilder song I listed above was "The Kid's American". That being said, your comment could be good news. According to my notes for the club mix of "Break My Stride", I had written down that I used a clean vinyl source (which also could mean a CD that used clean vinyl). For anyone who has either of the 2 CDs, can you tell if "Break My Stride" is from tape or vinyl? (or would you mind sending me a WAV)?

Re: Break My Stride..

I don't own either of the two comps mentioned but it is on two OTHER comps, both of which I have:

So80s (SoEighties) 9 and Dance Classics Pop Edition (Vol 1, but not labeled).

Both of these transfers sound quite good to my ears and both comps have a relatively good rep in terms of sources, though I have seen some comments about vinyl and loudness with So80s.  I'm a tiny bit preferential to Dance Classics anyway (there ended up being 12 Pop Editions, and over 50 other volumes loaded with remixes) but this is the harder to obtain of the two comps.

The remix of The Kid's American IS on a comp called Twelve 02 - Magically Delicious, but it's extremely hard to find, I think I've seen a copy for sale maybe once ever and it wasn't cheap.  On Discogs, it sold once in 2023 for $120, probably more than even you want to pay.
