Not sure what the connection is Dan.
Another interesting bit of trivia regarding a cover of this song is that early on in the making of the Bodyguard movie the makers of the film were considering having Whitney Houston record the 1966 Motown song for the soundtrack. Eventually they agreed she cover a country song instead. The rest is as they say history. |

Hmmm, now that's interesting! I can definitely hear
Whitney covering the song and doing it justice. But in the end, it was probably better that she recorded "that country song". It ultimately gave her the biggest hit of her career. |

Frequent panelist Fannie Flagg wrote "Fried Green Tomatoes", which Paul Young covered the song for. I will also add that I only heard the version with the freeform sax solo when this was a current as well as a recurrent. I think it's fair to say that is the version that was the hit. The fact that the 45/Cassingle Mix isn't even on YT proves its obscurity. |

Correct! The full title of the book she wrote is "Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe". I brought the subject up because I'm a big "Match Game" fan and I still watch the reruns, even though I saw many of them 40+ years ago when they were first on. Fannie Flagg also usually sat in the same seat on "Match Game" as another one of my favorite gals, Betty White. Edited by thecdguy |

This version on YouTube claims to be the 7" Version of the song, but obviously it's not because it doesn't have the correct sax solo that's similar to the chorus. I guess someone just edited the Soundtrack Album Version to match the running time of the 45. What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted (1991 7" Single Version) |

In comparing the single and album versions, it sounds to me like the "Ooohs" of the background singers on the intro sound a little closer up in the
single mix, whereas on the album version they sound a little further back. The single mix also sounds a little brighter to me in general. Or, maybe it's just my imagination...lol. |

Could be just EQ, not uncommon to make the radio versions brighter. |

Yes, that's clearly a remix and not an EQ adjustment. Those backing vocals are not prominent in the LP version or any other version. |
