Hard To Find 45s On CD, Vol. 15: ’80s

Thanks to Aaron, I can confirm that the US 45 starts at 109.3 BPM and ends at 109.1 BPM, with a tiny continuous drift in tempo from start to finish.

That matches the Turtles soundtrack version.

Ron, you probably noticed already, but my 45 copy is pressed very slightly off-center. (I didn't correct it when I dubbed it.)

I just got both yesterday. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. Kudos to all involved!

Thought I'd turn a critical ear on Eric's Hard To Find 45s On CD Vol. 15 80s Essentials And Beyond (2016).

1. RED RED WINE - UB40 (1988) - probably a digital clone of Labour Of Love; this is a differently-EQ'd and dynamically expanded (less compression) digital clone of Time-Life's Sounds Of The Eighties Vol. 24 Everything '80s (2002)
2. IT MUST HAVE BEEN LOVE - Roxette (1990) - differently-EQ'd digital clone of Virgin EMI PolyGram UK's 2-CD Now 18 (1990), with intro trimmed, and faded early
3. I'M GONNA BE (500 MILES) - Proclaimers (1993) - sound on par with other CDs with the song
4. TAKE YOUR TIME (DO IT RIGHT) - S.O.S. Band (1980) - The real 45 version, for the first time anywhere! Sounds great, too.
5. STEPPIN' OUT - Joe Jackson (1982) - differently-EQ'd digital clone of Rhino's Like Omigod (2002)
6. THEY DON'T KNOW - Tracey Ullman (1984) - sound on par with other CDs with the song
7. TARZAN BOY - Baltimora (1985) - runs 1.6% slower and a little shorter than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III soundtrack, which matches the 45 exactly
8. WE DON'T TALK ANYMORE - Cliff Richard (1979) - first appearance of the 45 edit, sound on par with Razor & Tie Cliff Richard collection
9. MOONLIGHT SHADOW - Mike Oldfield (1983) - sounds fine (I don't really know the song)
10. NOTHING'S GONNA CHANGE MY LOVE FOR YOU - Glenn Medeiros (1987) - runs a second or two shorter than the version on Sony's compilation Feel The Love
11. ONE MORE TRY - Timmy T. (1990) - differently-EQ'd digital clone of LP version on Quality's Time After Time (1991), same as "Radio version" on promo CD single
12. JOEY - Concrete Blonde (1990) - sound on par with other CDs with the song
13. NIGHTSHIFT - Commodores (1985) - differently-EQ'd digital clone of Hitsville U.S.A. Vol. 2 (1993) but somehow doesn't clip and fades a few seconds earlier
14. PASS THE DUTCHIE - Musical Youth (1982) - differently-EQ'd digital clone of Priority's Rock Of The '80s Vol. 9 (1993)
15. SATURDAY LOVE - Alexander O'Neal Featuring Cherrelle (1986) - sounds very nice
16. WOULD I LIE TO YOU - Charles And Eddie (1992) - differently-EQ'd digital clone of "Radio Edit LP Version" on promo CD single
17. AFTER ALL - Cher And Peter Cetera (1989) - seems to be new analog transfer; not based on Hitmakers
18. INTO THE NIGHT - Benny Mardones (1980) - promo 45 version
19. RIGHT HERE WAITING - Richard Marx (1989) - differently-EQ'd digital clone of Greatest Hits (1997)
20. I'D DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE (BUT I WON'T DO THAT) - Meat Loaf (1993) - differently-EQ'd digital clone of Hot Hits Pop Vol. 23 (1993) and, probably, promo CD single

Overall, the sound on this CD is flawless. Great dynamic range, nice EQ, no noise reduction anywhere, and no truncations on the fades. I couldn't have done it any better myself.

The true 45 version of "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" alone is worth the price of the CD.

Really, quite an outstanding job, and big kudos to Mark, Aaron, Ed, Jim, and everyone else involved with the project.
