It's funny, just 2 minutes ago I loaded H&O's "I Don't Wanna Lose You (single mix)" (from Playlist) into my computer and noticed the same thing - it was not too overcompressed at all. And it sounds nice.

Now one can only wish that a Billy Joel "Playlist" will be released with the 45 version of "Sometimes A Fantasy."
"I've got blisters on my blisters" waiting for this thing to come out. (Sorry for the horrible reference) -Fetta |

Just an FYI to those looking for these Playlist CDs. They all seem to be on sale this week for $5.99 at J&R Music World in Manhattan and they are on sale on-line as well (just an FYI...all the Cameo/Parkway CDs are $6.99)
I just picked up the Hall & Oates, Rick Astley and Eddie Money PLaylist CDs. All I can say is that the 45 version of "Two Tickets To Paradise" is by far superior. Because I was just an infant when that was a hit, all I ever heard was the album version played on the radio. WOW....what a difference. |

Or a Barbra Streisand "Playlist" with the 45 version of "The Way We Were." I wonder who produces this series. I don't recall seeing any credits on the CD. |

Or, even the 45 version of "Movin' Out."

Attn: Pat. db currently lists under this song:
(S) (3:07) Sony Music Special Products 28221 Hits Of The 80's 1982-1983 (45 version) I was looking up 1978's "Two Tickets to Paradise" in the db to see if perhaps the elusive 45 version of this song had appeared on another U.S. CD since its 2008 debut on EM's Playlist: The Very Best of... collection, when the above listing w/ its descriptor caught my attention. However, quite understandably, the EM hit featured on Sony Music Special Products 28221 is actually 1982's "Think I'm in Love", so this CD entry will need to be moved to that song instead (and the descriptor dropped, since "Think I'm in Love" apparently has no 45/LP distinction)... |

Curiously, what is considered the "45 version"? I don't have a stock copy of this but my promo has a version with a cold intro on one side, and one with a :21 intro (marked "edit") on the other. Both sides have a listed time of 3:59. ISTR airplay was a mixed bag on this back in '84, and this is one of those H&O songs that just kind of dropped out of sight once it fell off the charts. |

The stock 45 has the cold intro. The :21 second intro version is unique
to the promo 45. The promo version cannot be recreated using any CD sources that I'm aware of, as there are mix differences compared with the LP and 12" versions. |
