There is a clean version of the full-length album that edits out four words. "Ass" "ho" (two times) and "bitch." Perhaps your cassette single edits all these words, too. The CD single is unedited.

I've always wondered why record labels were so inconsistent throughout the '90s about making decisions whether to issue a clean or uncensored version of a song on commercial single. And then there are cases like "Jump Around" where the version isn't even consistent from one commercial single format to another.

Ed, the first "ho" is in verse one in the line "someone's talkin' junk, yo, I'll bust him in the eye, and then I'll take the punk's ho."

By the way, I have the clean full-length CD if you need this edit.

I wasn't even aware this was ever issued as a 45. Pretty cool! I have a cool story about "Jump Around". When I was in college, I was the music director of my campus station in San Francisco. Cypress Hill came by the station(November 1991) on a tour to promote their first album. DJ Muggs was talking about working with this new group featuring Everlast, who prior to House Of Pain was a solo artist on Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate label. Muggs had a cassette of the then still unsigned groups' first single. We were one of the first stations in the US to play "Jump Around". About a month after that they were signed to Tommy Boy and completed recording their first album. A few months after that thanks to the buzz generated by support from the street, that record took off like a shot. By summer it was Top Five single across the country.

hey jeff.....nice color on the start of the song..........btw..........you're corect about the song NOT being issued at the time as a 45.........i just check the billboard charts from the day and it was only issued commercilally as a cassingle, cassette maxi single, vinyl maxi single and a cd maxi single........NOT a a 45......paul must be refering to a re-issue or promo of some kind.........paul.......could you tell us more about the 45 of this song you possess??

aaron.........i think you are mistaken on the 2nd "ho" in the song.........based on the lyrics below that "ho" is actually "home"......so we're fully clear on this......only 3 words are edited..........aaron.....check your clean full length cd to verify this.........edtop40

Jump Around Lyrics

Pack it up, pack it in
Let me begin
I came to win
Battle me that's a sin
I won't tear the sack up
Punk you'd better back up
Try and play the role and the whole crew will act up
Get up, stand up, come on!
Come on, throw your hands up
If you've got the feeling jump across the ceiling
Muggs is a funk fest, someone's talking junk
Yo, I'll bust em in the eye
And then I'll take the punks home
Feel it, funk it
Amps it are junking
And I got more rhymes than there's cops that are dunking
Donuts shop
Sure 'nuff I got props from the kids on the Hill
Plus my mom and my pops

[Chorus]

I came to get down [2x]
So get out your seats and jump around
Jump around [3x]
Jump up Jump up and get down.
Jump [18x]
I'll serve your ass like John MacEnroe
If your steps up, I'm smacking the ho
Word to your moms I came to drop bombs
I got more rhymes than the bible's got psalms
And just like the Prodigal Son I've returned
Anyone stepping to me you'll get burned
Cause I got lyrics and you ain't got none
So if you come to battle bring a shotgun
But if you do you're a fool, cause I duel to the death
Try and step to me you'll take your last breath
I gots the skill, come get your fill
Cause when I shoot ta give, I shoot to kill

[Chorus]

I'm the cream of the crop, I rise to the top
I never eat a pig cause a pig is a cop
Or better yet a terminator
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger
Try'n to play me out like as if my name was Sega
But I ain't going out like no punk bitch
Get used to one style and you know I might switch
It up up and around, then buck buck you down
Put out your head then you wake up in the Dawn of the Dead
I'm coming to get ya, coming to get ya
Spitting out lyrics homie I'll wet ya

[Chorus]
Jump [32x]

Yo, this is dedicated
To Joe, da flava, Dakota
Grag yo bozac, punk
