I can answer some of the above questions and add a little
info for posterity.

Note that the 2 video links above for "Substitute" are
not U.S. 45s. Here's the info the U.S. releases.

1) "Substitute" LP version starts with "Sending love
vibrations" opening.
2) "Substitute" U.S. Polydor 45 starts with "Sam"
opening.

3) "I Will Survive" 45 Version is an early fade of the
12" single/2nd pressing LP version.

4) "I Will Survive" 1st pressing LP version is an edit of
the 12" single version. You can re-create the original LP
version with 2 edits and slightly early fade.
Note my times are approximate as your CD rip may vary
slightly. My source is the UK BBR CD Reissue of the 1st
pressing of "Love Tracks" with the 12" Version added as
one of the bonus tracks.

-First edit: From (3:08) to (4:47) on the downbeat in the
middle of the word "survive."
-Second edit: In your edited file, cut on the snare beat
from (4:41) (the middle of the sax break, 16 beats from
the start of the sax break) to (6:03) on the words "I've
got all...." near the end of the song.
This 2nd edit is a little tricky because in the 12" the
fade has already begun at that (6:03) point - so when you
make the cut the volume drops suddenly about 2 Db. So,
first you'll need to raise the volume at the end til the
edit points match in level. After the 2nd edit your file
will run about (4:58).
Then, create a gradual fade from (4:35) to (4:53).

Of course by 1978, promo copies were double-A side, so
the likelihood that a DJ would "accidentally" play the
wrong side (or a PD decide they liked the B side better)
were pretty slim.
