Just noticed that the digital album has the edited
version of the song instead
of the 4:01 version mentioned above. Why would they
change it? I have the
actual CD and it runs the true 4:01.

Well, I've since discovered that "Something to
Remember" CD version is faded to replicate the 45
version anyway. Yeah, I don't know why they do that
with digital albums sometimes.

I believe the "Crazy For You" fade out on "Something To
Remember" actually starts a little bit later than the
fade on the actual single release. So it's nearly the
same.

Can someone time the vinyl 45 of "Crazy For You"? My dj
copy runs (3:57) but everyone seems to think the real 45
time is (4:01).

My stock copy of "Crazy for You" on Geffen from 1985 runs 3:57.

Does anyone know what accounts for the 4-second
difference? Is it an earlier fade or a pitch difference?

My recording, pitched to match the compact disc transfer featured on the Vision Quest soundtrack isn't completely silent until 3:58.

After Madonna's extended lead "I'm crazy for you babaaaaa-aaa-aa-aaaaaay", the last thing you hear at the tail of the fade is the conclusion of the backing "aaah-aaah" vocals.

The version on her Something To Remember compilation released in 1995 is definitely a longer and newly created fade for unknown reasons.

Have a 3:27 edit from 2000 that I can't place for Music by Madonna. Anyone know what edit or CD this is from?
Favorite two expressions to live by on this board: "You can't download vinyl" and "Not everything is available on CD."

Not super helpful without any further details and, if you've obtained any of these edits via peer-to-peer networks at any time over the past two decades, it's entirely possible they are fake or "fan made" edits shared widely and unofficially there.

"Music" was famously leaked a few months ahead of the official single. Madonna was pregnant, so the song and video were finalized well in advance of the late Summer 2000 release so she could film the video early. This could have also been a promotional gimmick to build anticipation for the song, but who knows.

Anyway, the leaked version was low quality but basically the same as the released master, only it had a clipped intro and a truncated ending. "Hey Mister DJ...put a record on" became just "-DJ.... put a record on", and it was the same as the released version up until an extra repeat of the final chorus (edited out of the released master) before an abrupt stop or fade at just after, depending on the file you downloaded.

PS - It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since "Music" was released.
