At WJSQ 101.7 and 1450 WLAR in Athens, the pop remix was
played. WSM-FM opted to play it as well as WIVK FM 107.7 in Knoxville. |

Kent, were these 3 stations country stations, pop stations, or AC?

All of the above are Country formatted stations. There is one CD which may have the Thoener remix of this track. It is "The Love Album", an old West German import on RCA. According to TM Century, this CD has the Thoener remix. There is a CD issue of this.

If country stations were playing the remix, there's at least a good shot that RCA will eventually release this on a Dolly compilation CD. This was a #1 country hit, and if many country stations were playing it, there's a very good reason of releasing this version. If only pop stations played it, where it absolutely didn't chart at all, there's probably not as much a reason. I'll look into this "Love Album" CD. Kent, is this a Dolly CD or a various artist CD that RCA put out?

Actually, I just checked Amazon. They list a Dolly Parton CD "The Love Album" and another Dolly Parton CD "The Love Album Vol. 2" and they have track listings for both albums, but neither contains "Think About Love". Like you said, both are old, import CDs (from 1989 and 1990, respectively.) Kent, is it possible you were thinking of a different Dolly single that was remixed (like Real Love)? (On the other hand, "Think About Love" WAS remixed by David Thoener!)
Somehow, I'd like to think Amazon made a mistake with the track listing, but they show both album covers, too, and both list the titles there, and neither say "Think About Love". Edited by EdisonLite |

I was apparently thinking Real Love. RCA needs to re-issue Greatest Hits with the original uncut LP and some bonus tracks. Think About Love in the Thoener Remix would be perfect here.

Actually, after I theorized that you were thinking "Real Love", I checked the track listing for both "Love Albums" (vol. 1 & 2), and "Real Love" isn't on either volume. So now I'm really confused. And there probably aren't many Thoener remixes. Do you know if you saw "Think About Love" with the Thoener mix on something? |

I really goofed this one. I consulted my notes and it was
on an RCA Special Products Dolly Parton CD. I have ordered a copy of this disc and will post about what version of "Think About Me" is on it and further details. |

I think I've checked all the RCA Special Products Dolly Parton CDs with this song and none had the Thoener single remix. (Actually, there's a THIRD mix - we haven't talked about that one. Some CDs had that mix.)
Which CD did you order? <I consulted my notes and it was on an RCA Special Products Dolly Parton CD> If your notes indicate it was on this CD, that begs the question - where did you read that the single mix was on this CD? Since you haven't gotten the CD yet and actually heard it, I assume you came to this conclusion because you read it somewhere or somebody personally told you the single mix is on this CD. |

BTW, does anyone know where the third "Think About Love" mix comes from? As I recall, it's a little closer to the single mix than the album mix, but still not the real deal and not close enough. Both those non-single mixes clock in around 3:25, while the Thoener single mix clocks in at 3:17. If anyone has CDs that have the song clocking in around 3:25, it won't be the single mix because it never faded out that late.
