Ed,
My office laptop has a micro USB input and the charger for my Galaxy S9 has a micro USB to micro USB cable to allow me (in Windows Explorer) to drag photos from the phone to my laptop. If you're laptop doesn't have a micro USB input, this cable may help. https://www.amazon.com/6in-Micro-USB-Cable-6- inches/dp/B003YKX6WM |

Ed,
My boss's Samsung phone comes with a USB charger cable that has a standard USB plug at one end and the micro-usb end that plugs into the phone. When he plugs the standard end into the PC it automatically asks him if he wants to transfer the photos onto his PC. The phone also shows up as a "drive" in the windows explorer and he can access the photo folder on the phone that way. All Android phones should have this same option. Have you tried looking in explorer to see if the phone shows up there? I'd recommend have your explorer opened and watch the drive letters as you plug it in because its drive letter may not identify itself as the phone. MM |

Ed, you may need to swipe down on your phone to make sure
it allows you to transfer the photos. Give it a second and your phone should show up in Windows Explorer. Usually something like Galaxy9. Click on the Galaxy9 icon in Explorer to expand the folder. Look for a DCIM folder and then inside that should be a camera folder you open. Your pictures should be inside the camera folder. |

Just a thought, but maybe the cable you have only has the
DC voltage pins wired, and could only be used for charging, not data transfer. I had one like that with an mp3 player maybe 10 years ago. Dunno why it was made that way. Try another USB cable and see if that works |
