I'm still confused...

Was the "Do me wrong", the 45, on the mono vinyl 'Otis
Blue' LP and the "You can do me wrong" on the stereo
version of the vinyl 'Otis Blue' LP?

Thanks for any info!

Andy

The stereo LP has "You can do me wrong", and the opening bars have a loud shaker + quiet crash cymbal on every beat, instead of loud cymbal and no shaker.

My understanding is that the mono LP has the original single version with "do me wrong", loud cymbal, no shaker.

I don't have any of the original-era records to verify.

YouTube rips of people playing the Volt 45:

This
one (click)
runs about 2:04 and has vocal "you can
do me wrong, honey, if you want it" at 0:33 (0:38 in this
video).

This
one (click)
runs about 2:02 and has vocal "do me
wrong, honey, if you want to" at 0:33 (0:53 in this
video). This matches what's on my Respect CD
(Rhino 71430).

Of course, no guarantees they have the playback speed
right, so the durations are approximate.

Second 45 is original label, the first pressing is a
later label design. My example used for reference is also
a PL (Plastic Products) pressing from Memphis, TN, which
is what Tennessee and Georgia 45 buyers got. The second
pressing using the original label is when versions were
switched. I also have one of those pressings, also from
PL (Plastic Products). That copy is the same audio as
that later label design.
I turn up the good and turn down the bad!
