I recreated a promo 45 edit with the instructions Ron
(crapfromthepast) posted earlier in this thread. |

These versions are on the Into the Gap deluxe edition released last week:
• 4:38 album version, 2024 remaster (DR 9, good spectral balance, a touch more bass but not a huge difference from previous masterings). • 5:47 Phil Thornalley Remix = edit of the Extended Version, same mastering as on Greatest Mixes. • 7:52 Extended Version = same mastering as on Thompson Twins Box. • 3:58 Single Edit = US DJ 45 version which seems to be from the master tape; sounds great! • 4:27 Edit = early fade of the album version, as used on some import singles. They got the version info swapped on the last two tracks, I think; they are saying the 4:27 version is the US promo edit, but that's obviously wrong. I noticed on Discogs that the 7" releases from Canada, Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand purport to have a 3:58 version on them (according to the durations on the labels). I am wondering if this is the same as the US promo 45 edit. |
