I suspect there is a 45 version of "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls. The cd version on the cd "Spice" has :04 of footsteps and laughter preceding the music that I doubt would have been included on a single. So does anyone have the cd single to verify if this introduction is left intact?

I have an import CD single that says (radio edit) with a running time of 2:52 listed. It contains the steps and laughter.

My Promo Only - Mainstream Radio series has the :04 second intro, too. And I'm positive that the promo single we used to play on the air had this as well, because I used to cue past it in the CD player.

I used to cue past the :04 intro at the radio station where I worked as well. I don't think this song ever appeared on a commercial or DJ single without the intro.

Yep, my commercial US two-track CD single is the same as Ed's... called "Single Edit," and it HAS the footsteps and laughter, runs 2:52, b/w the song "Bumper to Bumper."

if the single edit is 2:52, why on the CD it is indicated as running 2:52? are the two versions the same? is there an extended or other version somewhere?

I've never seen an "extended" version, but my import CD single has a Motiv 8 dance remix, and the 12" vinyl single in the US has Motiv 8 mixes and Junior Vasquez mixes (as well as the "radio edit" clocking in at 2:52).

I've seen cases where the single is released several weeks before the album--listing something like "single edit" or "single version"--and the record company decides to use this version for the album, so the original album version never sees the light of day.
