the billboard charts from the time indicate that this song was issued as a 12" single......does anyone have this 12" single and what is the label & catalog number as well as what are the versions on the A-side....

i was doing follow-up research here as well, and came accross a jukebox 45 issued as blackground 38722, which is the same label & catalog number that was listed in billboard magazine from the time.....so both of these are NOT as 12" but as a cd single and a jukebox 45, respectively....

However, Ed, I believe that jukebox 45 was issued after the fact, as its flipside, "Come Back in One Piece," was issued after "Try Again." I think "Try Again" might actually be the B-side on that jukebox single.

Are you sure the original charts list "Blackground 38722," or is that just from a Whitburn book? (And I think I might actually own that jukebox single... I'll have to check.)

"Try Again" was never issued as a commerical CD single. Blackground 38722 is the number for both the 12" single and the 45. The Hot 100 started showing the 12" on July 8, 2000 and added the 45 on August 19, 2000.

Right, two months after it hit #1. So that 45 actually was "Come Back in One Piece" with "Try Again" as the B-side.

Here are images of the 12" from Discogs.com, a great resource that I don't think I've ever mentioned here before:

No... it just depends on what users upload. Everything on there is put up by users. Anyone can do it.

I guess there were three different US promo CDs for "Try Again," and two of them had the 12-inch cover. I wish I had that one... I just have the common one with the two-tone cover.
