my commercial 45 issued as a&m 2510 states a run time on the label of 4:57 but actually runs 4:46....it is also slightly sped up as well...(anyone else notice this).....if you fade out from 4:40-4:46 you'll be able to re-create the proper 45 version.....

The actual LP running time is (4:55), the listed time is "4:57" on the LP record label (A&M SP-4906)
My commercial 45 ran (4:46). The 45 is slight shorter, and faster than the vinyl LP. I think CD entries need "45 speed" or "LP speed" comment. Because it has speed difference of 4 seconds.
The last word "two" in the lyric "breaking us in two" on the last verse is at (4:14) on the vinyl LP, the same point on the 45 is at (4:10).
Nice finding, ed!

Was the short side of the promo also slightly sped?

Yes, it was pitched up. There was a thread a few years ago describing how to recreate the 45 version. Will try and locate it.

I discovered that the UK single has a different edit from
the US single or radio edit. From what I can tell, it's
just an early fade to 4:32, and pitched up slightly (less
than +1%).
