Regarding Grayson Hugh's "Talk It Over", the database currently notes that commercial 45 copies all run 4:17. This must be based on the printed record label time because abagon informs me his commercial 45 copy has an actual time of 4:01, not 4:17 as stated on the record label.

I just dug out my cassette single copy of "Talk It Over"... I timed it and came up with a run time of 4:16, which is identical to the song's length on the Blind to Reason CD (RCA 2171). (The time stated on the cassette single sleeve is 4:17.)
With abagon reporting that his commercial 45 runs 4:01, which appears to be identical to the short DJ 45 side, database comments will need to be updated and revised accordingly, including for The Beach Music Anthology Box Set Volume 3 CD set on Ripete 2277. Now, does anyone know if the 45 running 4:01 is an edit or an early fade of the LP and cassette single running 4:16? |

I do know that the DJ edit was an actual edit and not just an early fade.
I also seem to recall that it was difficult to find the edit point, or perhaps there were a couple of seconds on the DJ edit that were not on the album version. Andy |

I have compared the commercial 45 with the CD "Blind To Reason" U.S. releases. As AndrewChouffi pointed out, surely, the dj 45 side (equal commercial 45) isn't the fadeout version. When it cut the unnecessary range (3:38-3:54) of the LP version for making the 45 version. A sound on the LP version lacks the :00.6 seconds (at 3:38) on the commercial 45.

Thank you, Andrew and Abagon, for chiming in. From your responses, it can now be concluded that all CD appearances in the database contain the LP and cassette single version, with the exception of The Beach Music Anthology Box Set Volume 3 CD set (Ripete 2277), which is the commercial 45 version (faded :06 early?).
Now, can the 4:16 LP and cassette single version be edited down to match the 4:01 commercial 45 version? Edited by Todd Ireland |

I don't think so, because of that second of unique audio on the short version.

Todd: I'm sorry for my elusive post.
As the result, it's impossible to make the 45 version from the LP version. --abagon |

The short dj vinyl 45 states and runs (3:58). The version on The Beach Music Anthology Volume 3 is the same as the dj edit but faded :03 sooner.

my commercial 45 issued as rca 8802 states a run time on the label at 4:17 and does indeed run that length and is identical to the cd version below
(S) (4:16) RCA 2171 Blind To Reason the 45's run out groove states "8802-7-RA" this is in contridiction to abagon's findings and should be looked into further....is it possible that abagon's 45 is either a promo or import??....or is this an instance of 2 different issued 45's.... |
